Carlos Cruz-Diez is one of the leading representatives of kinetic art worldwide. His research has contributed novel forms of knowledge on the phenomenon of color, greatly expanding his perceptual universe. He is president of the Fundación del Museo de la Estampa y del Diseño Carlos Cruz-Diez (Museum of Prints and Design Carlos Cruz-Diez), Caracas.

Cruz-Diez, proposes the conception of color as an autonomous reality that develops in time and space, creating chromatic atmospheres by a purely physical effect. He describes himself as an artist who practices the discipline of the researcher.

Protagonist of many exhibitions, including the retrospective “Carlos Cruz-Diez: Color in Space and Time,” Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 2009; “Suprasensorial: Experiments in Light, Color, and Space,” The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, 2010; and “Light Show,” Hayward Gallery, London, 2013. In 2012 Cruz-Diez was awarded the Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur. He lives in Paris since 1960.
