Felix Gonzalez-Torres was born in Cuna, Cuba, in 1957 and moved to Puerto Rico, studying art at the University. There he won a scholarship to go to New York, and it is in that city where he consolidated his career, reaping significant successes in the art world.

The work of Gonzalez-Torres expresses three themes: death, love, and mourning. With impeccable discourse making an impact on several generations.

His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions. Bogotá,” Banco de la República, Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Bogota, Colombia, 2000; “Felix Gonzalez-Torres,” Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, 2007; and “Specific Objects without Specific Form,” Fondation Beyeler, Basel, Switzerland, 2010. Gonzalez-Torres Represented the United States at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007.
