Rirkrit Tiravajina is a contemporary artist based in New York, Berlin, and Chiang Mai, Thailand. His installations often take the form of stages or room for sharing meals, cooking, reading, or listening to music; architecture, life structures, and socialization are central elements in his oeuvre.

His work is marked by mobility between Thai culture and Western culture, which has taken him to highlight the relativity of the “artistic” and the relationship between the viewer and the work, through critically-viewed installations that aspire to expand the creator’s scope of action and his influence in the everyday world.

He has participated in numerous biennials, including The 7th International Istanbul Biennial, Turkey, 2001; 48th and 50th Venice Biennale, Italy, 2003 and 1999; The 2nd Guangzhou Triennial, China, 2005; Whitney Biennial, New York, 2006; Bienal de São Paulo, Brazil, 2006; XIV International Sculpture Biennale, Carrara, Italy, 2012; The 9th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea, 2012; 30 Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia, 2013; the 8th and 12th Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirados, 2007 and 2015.
